Information we collect
Account details you give us: your name, email address, and a password (always stored encrypted) — or, if you use Google or Apple sign-in, the basic profile those services share.
Watchlist activity: the movies and shows you add, mark watched, rate, and track season progress on.
Household data: the people you share a list with, and who marked what as watched.
Device and usage data: basic, privacy-preserving signals like app version and crash reports that keep Marquee working.
How we use your information
To run the core service — syncing your shared watchlist across everyone in your household in real time.
To generate recommendations from your group’s actual ratings and history, not a generic algorithm.
To send essential account emails (sign-in and password resets) and, only if you opt in, release reminders.
What your household can see
Marquee is built to be shared. People in your household can see the watchlist, who added a title, and who marked it watched. They can’t see your password, and they only see the account name you choose to share.
Third parties
We use movie and TV metadata and artwork from third-party catalog providers (such as TMDB) to power search and posters.
Authentication, database, and hosting are provided by Google Firebase. We use privacy-respecting signals to understand reliability and performance. We do not sell your personal data — ever.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your personal information and watchlist data from our systems.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest, and we limit access to the small team that operates Marquee.
Your rights
You can access, export, or delete your data from account settings, or by emailing us. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Children
Marquee isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes and contact
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
Questions? Email privacy@marqueemovie.app and a human will get back to you.
